Perhaps it started with the resurgence of Missoni, or the hipster comfort look that often substitutes soft sweater-wear for more structured pieces. Whatever it is, Benetton’s pop-up house of yarn will have you thinking twice about where you last saw that cardigan you owned back in college. “The Art of Knit,” a collaborative effort between the venerable, colorful brand known the world over and Italian design house Fabrica, this temporary retail spot in NYC’s SoHo nabe is billed as “a fusion of Fashion, Art and Design.” Everything’s for sale here, from the quirky Etsy-style art on the walls, to the warm, wooly apparel on the racks, and even the suspended string sculpture installations throughout the store, but only for a limited time, and of course, through the winter holidays.
“The Art of Knit,” a pop-up experience by Benetton, is located at 135 Crosby St. in NYC. The temporary retail store / exhibit is open through December 31, 2012.
